Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 18th January 2019: The African Union Commission Deputy Chairperson, Amb. Kwesi Quartey, today, held bilateral talks with Mr. Mario Pezzini, the Director of the OECD Development Centre and Special Advisor to the OECD Secretary-General on Development.
Amb. Quartey welcomed Mr Mario Pezzini to the African Union headquarters and acknowledged the importance of advancing the collaboration between the African Union and the OECD Development Centre, particularly, on issues relating to research and statistics in Africa.

African Union Action Plan towards Eradication of Child Labour and Modern Slavery on the Continent

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 14 February, 2019: The 2016 Global Estimates of Child Labour indicate that Africa is the region of high prevalence of child labour. One-fifth (20%) of all African children are involved in child labour, a proportion more than twice as high as in any other region. Nine per cent of African children are in hazardous work, again highest of all the world’s regions.
