H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

It is my honour and privilege to welcome every one of you to this important Summit.
The Africa Fertilizer and Soil Health Summit (AFSH) is currently underway to offer a comprehensive review of the state of soil health on the continent and the use of fertilizers. The Summit, an initiative of the African Union, is being held in Nairobi, Kenya from the 7th -9th May 2024, under the theme “Listen to the Land”. It seeks to review the progress made since previous commitments by African leaders to boost fertilizer use for agricultural growth in Africa.
The 24th Ordinary Session of the African Union Commission on International Law (AUCIL) commenced at the African Union (AU) Headquarters. This Session, spanning from May 6th -17th will consider and discuss a range of ongoing studies focused on the codification and progressive development of international law and AU law, as well as the domestication of AU legal instruments. Additionally, it will explore legal research on political, economic, and social issues in the African continent.
