As climate extremes tighten their grip on Africa, drought remains the continent’s most widespread and persistent climate hazard. It creeps slowly, often unnoticed, and yet it exacts a devastating toll on crops, water supplies, pastoral systems, lives, livelihoods, and entire economies. The question is no longer whether drought will come, but whether we can detect it early enough, act quickly enough, and coordinate effectively enough.

The Chairperson of the AU Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has arrived in Nairobi to attend the Joint Summit of the Co-Chairs of the EAC & SADC with the Panel of Facilitators on the DRC peace process.
Ahead of the Summit, he met with H.E. Prof. @rdussey, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Togo, who briefed him on the high-level meeting convened by H.E. President Faure Gnassingbé in Lomé in May, aimed at enhancing coordination among African-led mediation efforts.
