They discussed the outcomes of the 3rd AU-EU Ministerial Meeting & Africa's agency in development. They reaffirmed the strategic AU-EU partnership & the importance of deepening multilateral cooperation on shared priorities: peace & security, stabilisation, Africa-led peace support operations, trade, & sustainable infrastructure.

It is a distinct honour to address and co-chair this segment of the Ministerial meeting on behalf of the African Union Commission. A quarter-century of AU-EU cooperation is an important milestone to reaffirm our commitment to the very foundation of our partnership – a foundation that finds its fullest expression through multilateral cooperation.

3rd AU-EU Ministerial Meeting Begins in Brussels: AU Commission calls for alignment of the partnership’s priorities with Agenda 2063
At the 3rd AU-EU ministerial meeting in Brussels today, the African Union Commission Chairperson, H.E Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, underscored the imperative for the alignment of the EU-AU partnership with the AU’s #Agenda2063. He highlighted significant progress in many African countries towards achieving macro-economic stability, and implementation of reforms, particularly through initiatives like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Ministers from the EU and AU Member States Expected to Reinvigorate Longstanding Partnership for the Benefit of both Continents
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Member States of the European Union (EU) and the African Union (AU) will meet on 21st May in their 3rd Ministerial Meeting, where they will take stock of progress on the Joint Vision for 2030 for a renewed Partnership, that was adopted at the 6th EU-AU Summit in 2022. The meeting paves the way for the 7th AU-EU Summit, which will take place in Africa, in 2025, marking 25 years of the partnership.

The meeting, held on the margins of the 3rd EU-AU Ministerial Meeting, focused on strengthening ties & exploring new avenues for cooperation between Belgium & the AU Commission.
