The Treaty for the Establishment of the African Medicines Agency (AMA) entered into force as of 5th November 2021, thirty (30) days after the deposit of the 15th instrument of ratification, on the 5th of October 2021, by the Republic of Cameroon at the African Union Commission (Article 38, AMA Treaty).

The African Union (AU) in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the United Republic of Tanzania organized the Workshop of Senior Officials of AU Member States and RECs to validate the Draft Policies on the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons (TIP) and Prevention of Smuggling of Migrants (SOM) in Africa. The Workshop kicked off on 6 October, in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, has endorsed the Return Visit of the Head of African Union Election Observation Mission (AUEOM) to the 12th August 2021 General Elections in Zambia, H.E. Ernest Bai Koroma, former President of the Republic of Sierra Leone. The main objectives of the Return Visit are to formally present the Final Report of the AUEOM to Zambian authorities and stakeholders and engage in discussion with stakeholders on the key findings, conclusions, and recommendations of the Mission.

7 November 2021, Addis Ababa: The African Union Commission has learnt of the existence of a report circulating on social media purporting to be an official internal memo attributed to the Chairperson of the Commission, allegedly calling for a temporary relocation of the Commission and its staff from Ethiopia.

The said report is fake news and has no basis in fact nor form.

The Political Affairs, Peace and Security Department of the African Union (AU) Commission will launch the Post-conflict Reconstruction and Development (PCRD) Awareness Week from the 7th to the 9th of November 2021. This initiative, the first of its kind, aims to bring together stakeholders from across the peacebuilding and development spectra to exchange views on practical ways to support countries in political transition, strengthen resilience and avoid a relapse into armed conflict.
