Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

WHAT: 5th Ordinary Session of the Sixth Legislature of the Pan-African Parliament under the African Union Theme of the Year for 2025: “Justice for Africans and People of African Descent through Reparations.”
WHEN: 21 July to 1 August 2025
Preparatory meetings are scheduled to convene before the formal opening of the Ordinary Session on 21 July 2025, as per the following programme:
On the margins of the 7th AU Mid-Year Coordination Meeting in Malabo, AUC Chairperson H.E. @ymahmoudali convened and addressed a high-level coordination meeting with the Heads of Regional Economic Communities (RECs), Regional Mechanisms (RMs), & AUDA-NEPAD.
Co-chaired by IGAD, the current Chair of the Inter-RECs Coordination Committee, the meeting built on discussions held on 3 July and focused on enhancing synergy, coherence, and effective delivery across Africa’s integration, development, and financial institutions.
At the Round Table event: Unlocking Transformative Partnerships and Joint Resource Mobilisation for The Africa We Want organised by @NEPAD_Agency in Malabo, AU Commission Chair H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf called for bold partnerships, unified action, and strategic resource mobilisation to accelerate Agenda 2063.
“It’s time to shift from fragmented efforts to harmonised delivery. From donor-dependency to African-led ownership. Together, we can unlock the Africa we want—resilient, prosperous, and self-reliant, he said.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, warmly congratulates the Government and people of Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe as they celebrate another year of independence.
The Seventh Mid-Year Coordination Meeting (7MYCM) between the AU, the Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and the Regional Mechanisms (RMs) Commenced today July 10, 2025 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, featuring the Ministerial Meeting of the Executive Council.
On the occasion of the 2025 African Anti-Corruption Day, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, urges all African Union Member States to underscore human dignity in their anti-corruption strategies.
The 2025 African Anti-Corruption Day is commemorated under the theme, Promoting Human Dignity in the Fight Against Corruption. The commemoration held annually on 11 July, aligns this year with the overarching AU theme for 2025: "Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations."
At the opening of the 7th AU Mid-Year Coordination Meeting, the Chairperson of the AU Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, expressed gratitude to President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo for hosting the meeting in Malabo.
He underscored that the Executive Council session is focused on the 2026 AU budget, noting a modest improvement in the AU’s programme budget funding from 9.4% in 2025 to 12.7% in 2026, sourced member states . However, he was concerned that only 17 Member States have implemented the 0.2% import levy agreed under the 2016 Kigali Decision.
