Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

Cairo, 07 August 2018 -The African Union in partnership with the African Development Bank and the African Import and Export Bank (Afreximbank) is holding a three-day consultation event to discuss practical steps towards the creation of a fund to support pharmaceutical manufacturing in Africa.
Addis Ababa, 1 August 2018: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, welcomes the outcome of the Joint Summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), held in Lomé on 30 July 2018. This Summit, in which he participated, marked a new and important step in the efforts to meet the challenge of peace and security within both Communities, including through greater synergy of efforts to combat terrorism and violent extremism.
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: 11th May 2018: The African Union Commissioner for Rural, Economy and Agriculture, Mrs. Josefa Leonel Sacko held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Sahbi Khalfallah, permanent representative of the Republic of Tunisia to the African Union to discuss on the upcoming 7th Africa Regional Platform and 6th High-level meeting on Disaster Risk Reduction to be held in Tunis from 9th to 13th October 2018.

Addis Ababa, 4 August 2018: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, congratulates the Zimbabwean people and political stakeholders for a largely peaceful elections.
The Chairperson deeply regrets the unfortunate loss of lives in the immediate aftermath of the elections, and extends his condolences to the affected families. He welcomes the commitment of the Zimbabwean authorities to investigate these incidents.
Addis Ababa, 03 August 2018: The Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on 01 August 2018 declared a new outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in two Provinces: North Kivu (32 cases) and Ituri (one case). On 28 July 2018, the North Kivu Provincial Health Division notified the Ministry of Health of suspected EVD cases which were subsequently confirmed by laboratory testing at the Institut National de Recherché Biomédical (INRB). This is the tenth outbreak of EVD in the DRC; the ninth outbreak was declared over on 24 July 2018 in the Equateur Province.
Yaoundé, Cameroon 31 July 2018: The official ceremony to hand over the Rectorate of the Pan African University (PAU) took place on Tuesday, 31 July 2018 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The Rectorate was formerly in Addis-Ababa, Ethiopia. It is by Decision Assembly/AU/Dec.552 (XXIV) that AU Heads of State and Government, during the Summit of January 2015, designated Cameroon to host the Rectorate of the Pan African University.
Mogadishu, 31 July 2018. - The African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC) has concluded a two day Advocacy Mission in the Federal Republic of Somalia from 30-31 July, 2018 on the practical steps to be taken for the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACRWC) and the deposition of the ratification instrument at the African Union.
