The 6th Pan-African Cultural Congress (AU/PACC6) took place in Moroni, the Union of Comoros, from 25 to 27 September 2024. In line with the African Union theme of the year for 2024, which is “Educate and Skill Africa for the 21st Century”, the congress was organised under the theme: "Arts, Culture, Heritage, and Education: Levers for Building the Africa We Want’’.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, condemns the killing of Mr Elvino Dias and Mr Paulo Gambe and expresses his sincere condolences to their families.

The Chairperson calls on the Mozambican security authorities to undertake the necessary investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.

 The Chairperson continues to closely monitor the aftermath of the conduct of the General Elections in Mozambique held on 9 October 2024 and expresses deep concern of the reported cases of post- election violence and in particular the recent killings.
