The President and Parliamentarians of the Pan African Parliament (PAP) undertook a working visit to the United States of America, Washington DC, from 25 September to 3 October 2017, to advocate against the sanctions on the Sudan. The Delegation was led by the President of PAP, Honorable Roger Nkodo Dang.
The Mission was facilitated by H.E. Dr. Arikana Chihombori Quao, Permanent Representative of the African Union Representational Mission to the USA.

STATEMENT OF THE CHAIRPERSON OF THE COMMISSION ON THE SITUATION IN KENYA
Addis Ababa, 11 October 2017: The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, is closely following the situation in Kenya, including the decision by Mr. Raila Odinga from the National Super Alliance (NASA) Coalition to withdraw from the rerun of the presidential elections scheduled for 26 October 2017, and the subsequent political developments.
Note to Editors: Chief Negotiators Conclude the 7th Round of Continental Free Trade Area (CFTA) Negotiations
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – 11 October 2017: The 7th Meeting of the CFTA Negotiating Forum took place from 2nd – 7th October 2017 at the African Union (AU) Headquarters, in Addis Ababa. The meeting brought together Chief Negotiators and Trade Experts from African Union Member States.
The negotiators made substantial progress towards the conclusion of CFTA Negotiations and agreed on the following:
a) to adhere to the deadline of December 2017 to complete the draft legal text establishing the Continental Trade Area as directed by the AU Assembly of Heads of State and Government;

THE AFRICAN UNION CONDEMNS THE ATTACK AGAINST MONUSCO BASE IN NORTH KIVU, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
Addis Ababa, 10 October 2017. The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union, Moussa Faki Mahamat, condemns the attacks carried out on 9 October 2017 by elements of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) against the base of the United Nations Mission for the Stabilization in the Congo (MONUSCO) in Mamundioma, in the North Kivu Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), which caused the death of two peacekeepers and injured several others from the Tanzanian contingent.
