Nairobi, Kenya - 24 August 2016: Preparation for the Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD-VI) began today with a Senior Official’s Meeting (SOM) at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, Nairobi, Kenya. This is the first time since its inception in 1993 that TICAD is being held in Africa and the TICAD VI Summit demonstrates the continent’s ownership of the TICAD process.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – 9 August 2016: The nomination process for the next Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson and eight (8) Commissioners of the African Union (AU) Commission has been re-opened. The AU Commission has officially informed all Member States, providing detailed timeframes and deadlines for the submission of candidatures for the ten (10) positions that are open.
