African Union to launch African Minerals Development Centre and Commodities Strategy

Johannesburg, South Africa 1 June, The African Union is to launch an African Minerals Development Centre so as to ensure that African Governments are better equipped to negotiate better mining and exploration terms and contracts. This emerged at the second edition of the Junior Indaba, which is a gathering of small and medium sized mining players.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – 31 May 2016: The African Union Commission Chairperson, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, has welcomed the judgement of the African Extraordinary Chambers (AEC), following the trial of the former President of Chad, Hissène Habré, in Dakar, Senegal. The judgement was delivered on Monday, 30 May 2016.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – 31 May 2016: The Chairperson of African Union Commission (AUC), H.E. Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, has learnt with great sadness the passing away of the President of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, H.E. Mohamed Abdelaziz. The Saharawi leadership officially announced the death on 31 May 2016. He was in his sixties.
