Experts to review the indicators for the implementation of the Agenda 2063 First Ten-Year Plan
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 07 December 2015: Experts from across the Continent have convened today, 07 December 2015 at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to review the Agenda 2063 First Ten Year Implementation Plan measurement Framework. The three-day meeting will provide an opportunity to statisticians, planners, academicians, development partners as well as representatives of the civil society to identify and recommend core indicators that will facilitate the domestication and implementation of the new Africa’s development framework.
African Union/International IDEA BRIDGE Capacity Training for the Independent Electoral Commission of the Kingdom of Lesotho begins in Maseru
Maseru, 7 December 2015: A 5-day Building Resources for Democracy, Governance and Elections (BRIDGE) Training has begun today in Maseru, the Kingdom of Lesotho, for the staff of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC). The training on “Civic Education and Voter Information” has the objective to help the staff of IEC to better carry out its constitutional mandate relating to civic education and voter information and enhance political participation. Participants for the training are drawn from senior management and implementers of Civic Education and Voter Information within the IEC.
Strengthening Africa-China relationship: AU Commission Chairperson and Chinese President hold bilateral meeting
Pretoria, South Africa – 3 December 2015: The Chairperson of the AU Commission Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, and the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, have exchanged on critical areas to strengthen the relationship between the African Union and China. They met on 3 December 2015, on the margins of the second Forum for China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit, in Pretoria, Republic of South Africa.
The two leaders were meeting in South Africa barely a month after their meeting in Beijing, China, when the AU Commission Chairperson paid an official visit.

AU Commission Chairperson congratulates Mr. Wane Elghassim, appointed Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations
Johannesburg, South Africa – 5 December 2015: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, has congratulated Mr Wane Elghassim, African Union Commission Director for Peace and Security, for his appointment as Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations in the United Nations (UN). The UN Secretary-General announced the appointment on 3 December 2015.
