BACKGROUND
The African Union Commission and the European Union are set to hold youth and high-level consultations on the AU-EU Youth Lab (Lab 3.0) program. An initiative that will focus its efforts on bold actions for youth engagement and development in Africa and Europe. This consultation will be held at the margins of the AU-EU Summit. The Youth Consultation will be an opportunity for young people to validate the Lab 3.0 Concept. The AU-EU summit side event will also draw the participation of AU and EU country delegations and leaders and the interested partners and champions, enabling dialogue with youth, and mobilizing a call for endorsement at the Summit, and an invitation for broader commitment and active engagement of new partners.
THE SESSION
The AUC and EU invites you to take part in a broad consultation, organized by the European Union Delegation to the AU and the AUC Youth Division to discuss the future AU-EU Youth Track Programme, and in particular the transition from the Youth Plug-In-Initiative, the Youth Cooperation Hub to a future broader Youth Lab.
This event takes place ahead of the AU-EU Heads of State Summit happening later this week. The end of the consultation will include the participation of African and European leaders to take the Youth Track Programme further.
Journalists are invited to cover the event
NOTE TO EDITORS
About the AU-EU Youth Lab Program
Young people face large common challenges. On both continents, they are drivers for change and have shown an increased interest in acting on global issues. Africa is the continent with the youngest population in the world. Youth under the age of 25 make up about 62% of the total African population.
Building on lessons learned so far from the partnership between the AU and EU, the AU-EU Youth Lab will support youth innovation and action, catalyzing youth energy, dialogue, and change, and contributing to AU and EU policy, projects and lessons learned.
