Addis Ababa, 21 January 2014- The African Union Commission (AUC) awarded prices to two female top African scientists: Prof. Merzouk Hafida from Algeria representing the North region and Prof. Yalemtsehay Mekonnen from Ethiopia, representing the East region, for their scientific achievements and valuable discoveries and findings that has contributed to the development agenda of the Continent.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 21 January 2016: The 31st Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) officially kicked off today 21 January 2016, at the headquarters of the African Union (AU) in Addis Ababa in the presence of the AUC Deputy Chairperson, Mr. Erastus Mwencha, AU Commissioners representatives from AU Organs, the RECs and invited guests.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 15 January 2016- The Africa Energy Ministers met at a side event during the 6th Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) to be briefed on the outcomes of the COP21 and the importance of renewable energy in the Climate Change endeavors, as well as the importance of the establishment of a coordination mechanism for the African and global energy initiatives in Africa.

Addis Ababa, 17 January 2016- A delegation of USA Congressmen led by Chairman Ed Royce was received by H.E Erastus Mwencha, Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), on 17 January 2016 at the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The meeting took place in the presence of Dr. Anthony Mothae Maruping, AUC Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Mr. Bam from the Department of Peace and Security of the AUC and Ambassador Susan D. Page is the U.S. Chargé d’ Affaires to the African Union.
