Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E. Mr. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, was appointed to lead the AU institutional reforms process. He appointed a pan-African committee of experts to review and submit proposals for a system of governance for the AU that would ensure the organisation was better placed to address the challenges facing the continent with the aim of implementing programmes that have the highest impact on Africa’s growth and development so as to deliver on the vision of Agenda 2063.

On 17th July, the African Union will hold the 4th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting (MYCM) in Lusaka, Zambia. The MYCM was conceptualized in 2017 as the principal forum for the AU and Regional Economic Communiities (RECs) to align their work and coordinate the implementation of the continental integration agenda, replacing the June/ July summits. It is a meeting between the bureau of the AU Assembly and Regional Economic Communities (RECs), with the participation of the Chairpersons of RECs, the AU Commission and Regional Mechanisms (RMs).

According to Honorable Aya Benjamin Warille, South Sudan’s Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare lauded the advocacy visit stating “The Maputo Protocol on Women’s Rights is timely and this mission is extremely relevant to fast-track the process. Ratifying it will present a lot of opportunities for South Sudan”.
The Kingdom of Morocco has become the fourteenth (14th) African Union (AU) member state to deposit instruments of ratification of the Protocol to the constitutive act of the AU relating to the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) also known as the Malabo Protocol.
