26 August 2021, Addis Ababa: The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, is pleased to announce the appointment of H.E. Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as his High Representative for the Horn of Africa region. 

This decision is part of the African Union’s drive to promote peace, security, stability and political dialogue all over the Horn of Africa region.

Addis Ababa, 16 August 2021: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat warmly congratulates H.E. Hakainde Hichilema upon his election as President-Elect of the Republic of Zambia following the successful conduct of General Elections held on 12 August 2021.

The Chairperson also commends outgoing President H.E. Edgar Lungu for his tenure and demonstrating strong leadership and statesmanship through his gracious acceptance of the outcome of the elections.

The Republic of Benin Deposits the Instrument of Ratification of the African Medicines Agency (AMA)

12 August 2021. The Republic of Benin becomes the tenth (10th) Member State to deposit the instrument of ratification of the African Medicines Agency (AMA) to the Commission of the African Union (AU) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Republic of Benin ratified the Treaty for the establishment of AMA on 30 June 2021 in Cotonou, Benin.
