H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

23 November 2019, Addis Ababa: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat concluded a two-day working visit to Botswana today.
During this visit, the Chairperson held discussions with President Mokgweetsi Masisi’s and his new Cabinet at a Cabinet Retreat outside the capital Gaborone, following recent general elections in the country.

Accompanied by Dr Ibrahim Assane Mayaki, CEO of AUDA-Nepad and other senior officials, the Chairperson held discussions with President Cyril Ramaphosa, Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor, Finance Minister Tito Mboweni and senior officials from the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO).
Addis Ababa, 22 November 2019: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, His Excellency Moussa Faki Mahamat, expresses his deep concern over the continued colonial administration of the United Kingdom to the Chagos Archipelago, in violation of the United Nations General Assembly’s Resolution 73/295 adopted on 22 May 2019, in which the international community demanded from the United Kingdom to withdraw unconditionally within six months from the date of the Resolution, which expired on 22 November 2019.

Dr Amani Abou-Zeid, Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy took part in the 12th Annual International Forum MEDays, running in Tangier, Morocco from November 13-16. This year’s edition was organized under the theme “Global distrust crisis: Facing subversion and uncertainties”. The event was attended by 4,000 participants from across the Continent and elsewhere.
