WHO: The African Union Commission (AUC) Directorate of Health and Humanitarian Affairs, in collaboration with the Republic of Botswana and the African Development Bank Group’s African Leaders for Nutrition (ALN).

The Africa Urban Forum has kicked off seeking to find innovative solutions to making African cities habitable for the growing population. With an average annual urban growth rate of 3.5% in the last 20 years, Africa has seen the largest urbanization, a trend anticipated to continue until the year 2050. The percentage of Africans living in urban areas was around 36% in 2010 and is expected to rise to 50% and 60% by the years 2030 and 2050, respectively.

Malnutrition and data gaps remain critical challenges in Africa. To address these issues and strengthen nutrition accountability, the African Union Commission (AUC) partnered with the African Leaders for Nutrition (ALN) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) to host a Capacity Building Workshop on the Continental Nutrition Accountability Scorecard (CNAS) in Kampala, Uganda, from July 4-5, 2024. The workshop aimed to enhance countries' ability to use nutrition data to inform decision-making and

Dakar, 19 August 2024 – In a pivotal move towards ending malnutrition in Africa, the African Union Commission (AUC), African Development Bank Group’s African Leaders for Nutrition in partnership with the Republic of Senegal, announced the development of the Multisectoral Nutrition Policy Framework (MSNPF) and Funding Target (FT) for Nutrition Investment in Africa during a high-level workshop in Dakar, Senegal. These two documents aim to strengthen domestic financial investments and ensure a coordinated multisectoral approach to malnutrition across the continent.
