H.E. Mr. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, was appointed to lead the AU institutional reforms process. He appointed a pan-African committee of experts to review and submit proposals for a system of governance for the AU that would ensure the organisation was better placed to address the challenges facing the continent with the aim of implementing programmes that have the highest impact on Africa’s growth and development so as to deliver on the vision of Agenda 2063.

24 February 2023: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission H.E. Moussa Faki MAHAMAT strongly condemns the shocking statement issued by Tunisian authorities targeting fellow Africans which go against the letter and spirit of our Organization and founding principles.

On 19th February, the Assembly of the African Union appointed Dr Jean Kaseya of the Democratic Republic of Congo as Director General of the AfricaCDC for a mandate of 4 years. He will oversee the delivery of the core functions and key objectives of the organization, as per its statute.
