The African Union (AU) Commission, in collaboration with the Federal Republic of Nigeria held the Inaugural Lessons Learned Forum on AU Peace Support Operations (PSOs) and the African Standby Force (ASF) from 1 to 3 November 2022 in Abuja, Nigeria. The Inaugural Lessons Learned Forum was aimed at assessing how implementation of AU PSOs have been facilitated; ascertain the various ways in which the ASF have been utilized since its establishment; and identify key lessons that can contribute towards the full operationalization and utilization of the ASF.

The inaugural Lessons Learned Forum on AU PSOs and the ASF seeks to bring together the members of the African Union Peace and Security Council (PSC), Regional Economic Communities and Regional Mechanisms (RECs/RMs) and senior leadership and management teams of current AU PSOs mandated, authorized or endorsed by the AUPSC.
Women in Blue Economy Workshop Calls for Unreserved Participation of Women to Achieve the Continental Blue Economy Initiative
Ensuring participation and representation of women in the blue economy is a driving force for the economic development of the continent in all sectors. This was the prominent key message coming out from the Women in the Blue Economy Workshop that took place from 16-17 June 2022 in Abuja, the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Participants at the workshop exchanged views on the African Union Blue Economy Strategy and ensuring women’s empowerment in the fisheries development sector. The workshop also reflected on possible ways of financing women’s participation in the blue economy.
