Press Release Addis Ababa – 21 July, 2016: The African Union Commission, in the margins of the 27th AU Summit in Kigali, launched the first ever report on the “Implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in Africa”.
Kigali, Rwanda 18 July 2016 - The 27th African Union (AU) Summit came to a successful conclusion on Monday, July 18, 2016, with Heads of State and Government from AU Member countries making a common call for togetherness, inclusive growth and economic develop through Agenda 2063.
The Heads of State also adopted recommendations of the Retreat on financing the Union, which seeks to empower the Union by driving it towards financial independence and external influences.
Kigali, Rwanda - 17 July 2016 - The Twenty seventh (27th) Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government kicked off on 17 July 2016 at the Kigali Convention Centre (KCC), Rwanda, with a strong call for unity and love for the continent. Kigali, Rwanda 7 July 2016- The Republic of Rwanda will host from 10 to 18 July 2016, the 27th Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) under the theme: “2016: Year of Human Rights with a particular focus on the Rights of Women”. The newly constructed Convention Centre dubbed (KCC) has given a facelift to the capital city, Kigali. All the major streets are colourfully carrying visual branding of the summit artworks with messages to popularise the vision of the African Union and its development Agenda 2063.
Kigali, Rwanda – 01 June 2016 - The African Union Commission (AUC) and the African Minerals Development Center consulted today the Private Sector on the Africa Mining Vision (AMV) initiative under the theme: “Leveraging the role of Chambers of Mines and Mining Association in the implementation of the Africa Mining Vision”. The objective of the two-day meeting is to have a frank discussion and contribution amongst Private Sector and leaders from Chambers of Mines on how to implement the African Mining Vision.
Addis Ababa – 12 January 2016: The new Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, H.E. Mrs. Hope Tumukunde Gasatura, presented on Monday 11 January 2016, her letter of credence to H.E. Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, the African Union Commission Chairperson.
The new Ambassador took the opportunity to commend the AUC Chairperson for her leadership and expressed her country’s commitment to accelerate the preparations for the forthcoming June-July Summit of the African Union scheduled to take place in Kigali.
The inaugural meeting of the Political Heads of the African Governance Architecture (AGA) and Platform took place in Kigali, Rwanda from December 9-10, 2015. This meeting followed the Fourth High Level Dialogue on Democracy, Governance and Human Rights focusing on 'Women's Equal Participation and Leadership in Political Parties' that took place from December 7-8, 2015.
The political meeting was opened by the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Dr. Aisha Abdullahi and the Chair of the AU Permanent Representative Committee Amb. Albert Chimbindi.
