23 August 2016, Cape Town, South Africa – The African Union Commission and the African Minerals Development Centre (AMDC) organized a meeting of high-level geological experts from 24 to 26 August 2016 to coordinate the African Geological Mineral Information System (GMIS) Strategy. The strategy will introduce Africa Mining Vision (AMV) compliant initiatives that will improve geological and geospatial information and its use in mining and broad development processes in Africa.

Olawale Maiyegun, presided over the opening ceremony of the Technical Consultation on drug demand reduction which kicked off on Wednesday 3rd August 2016 in Cape Town in the presence of representatives of partner organisations in the area of drug control as well as Experts on drug use epidemiology from AU Member States.

This emerged at the second edition of the Junior Indaba, which is a gathering of small and medium sized mining players.
