(ADFNS)

When: December 5th, 2018

Where: Serena Hotel, Dar –es-Salaam, Tanzania

Who: The African Union Commission in collaboration with the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania

Background: The main purpose of the ADFNS is to serve as a platform for rallying political and financial commitments at all levels to address contemporary challenges of food and nutrition insecurity in Africa. The event provides the platform at national, regional and continental levels to share experiences, knowledge and mutual learning, as well as measure progress in assuring food and nutrition security for all by governments and multi-stakeholder partners.

Under the theme “Sustained Food Safety Action for Improved Health and Nutrition of Africans,” this year’s ADFNS aims to motivate commitments by decision and policy makers and all relevant actors to deliberately prioritise investments in promoting sustainable food systems to enable healthy diets.

Journalists are invited to cover the official opening ceremony of the commemoration on December 5th, 2018 at 09:30 a.m.
