The press conference will be addressed by:

• Maria-Cristina Russo, Co-chair EU, Director DG Research & Innovation
• Mahama Ouedraogo, Director AUC HRST

Objectives: The AU-EU High Level Policy Dialogue (HLPD) on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) serves as a platform for regular exchanges on research and innovation policy and aims to formulate and implement long-term priorities to strengthen Africa-Europe cooperation on STI. It was adopted at the third Africa-EU Summit in Tripoli in 2010 as an important element of the Joint Africa-EU Strategy (JAES). The HLPD so far focuses on the implementation of its two long-term, jointly funded Research and Innovation (R&I) Partnerships on (i) Food and Nutrition Security and Sustainable Agriculture (FNSSA) and (ii) Climate Change and Sustainable Energy (CCSE), as well as on the important topic of health represented by the European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP).

Journalists are invited to cover the Opening Ceremony of the AU-EU High Level Policy Dialogue on Science Technology and Innovation from 11:00 to 11:30 am at the Old building AU Conference Center.

They are also invited to participate and cover the Press Conference that will take place from 12:30 to 1:00 pm at the Briefing Room 1 in the New Conference Center of the AUC.
