Background Information

Starting at 19:00 EAT, 16:00 GMT, the webinar will review the vision of the founders of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) and the importance of solidarity in tackling Africa’s health issues. It will celebrate Africa’s contribution to health and its resilience, and discuss a new global health order. The forum will be an opportunity to brief Africa about the #COVID19 situation on the continent, including some of the resource and capacity challenges, as well as its likely socio economic impact. It will also discuss the recently launched African Union COVID-19 Response Fund. The discussions will take place in the context of Agenda 2063, the continental development framework agreed to by leaders of all the 55 member states.
