Background Information

The COVID-19 pandemic has spread to about 215 countries and territories with nearly 13 million cases and about 600,000 deaths worldwide. Nearly 750,000 cases have been reported in 54 African countries, with over 15,000 deaths. Africa CDC is working with several partners to support Member States in providing appropriate response to the outbreak in their countries. In addition to the Director of Africa CDC the briefing will feature the Director of the Uganda National Institute of Public Health who will provide updates on Uganda's response to the pandemic.
