Background:
AUDA-NEPAD, in partnership with Ethiopia’s Ministry of Health, is hosting this side event to highlight the role of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) in achieving Agenda 2063.
The A2DSRH Programme, led by AUDA-NEPAD, integrates SRH into Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by aligning policies, strengthening health systems, and building regional capacity. With high maternal mortality rates and limited contraception access, investing in SRH is key to improving health outcomes, gender equality, and economic empowerment.
By tackling SRH challenges, A2DSRH can reduce maternal and infant deaths, support education and employment for youth, and drive Africa’s economic transformation.
The session will rally political support to expand successful SRH models, align strategies with African Union (AU) frameworks, and maximize Africa’s demographic dividend for sustainable growth.
AUDA-NEPAD will also launch the “24 Priority Medical Products” and the “Roadmap for Regional Manufacturing in Africa”, an initiative aimed at reducing Africa’s dependency on imported medicines, strengthening health security, and improving access to essential maternal, newborn, and reproductive health products.
