Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

      In line with the decision of the African Union Ministers of Communication and Information Communication Technologies (STCCICT) of 2017, which resolved to, among others, recognize the contributions of journalists towards the achievement of Agenda 2063, five African women journalists have been awarded grants to enable them to produce detailed stories in key sectors of Africa’s development under Agenda 2063. The grants valued at US$10,000 in total were supported by the African Union, the GIZ and the International Organisation for Migration, IOM.

      WHAT: 35TH Ordinary Session of the Executive Council. The meeting is one of the statutory meetings of the 12th Extra Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU), which will see the launch of the operational phase of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the holding of the 1st Consultative Meeting between the AU and Regional Economic Communities (RECs).
