Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – 02 October 2019: The new Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the African Union, HE Amb. Pavel Mikeš presented today his Credentials to the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat.

The Chairperson and the Ambassador exchanged views on the importance of multilateralism and their readiness to strengthen collaboration in addressing issues of mutual concern, including Peace and Security, Development, Migration and Climate Change.

Ambassador Mikeš informed the Chairperson of his Government’s recent opening of two embassies in Mali and Congo-Brazzaville or Democratic Republic of Congo and the anticipated visit of the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs to Ethiopia and the African Union Commission as a demonstration of the Czech Republic’s commitment to strengthen its partnership with the Continent.

The Chairperson emphasized two flagship projects such as the Silencing of The Guns by 2020 and the African Continental Free trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement as pivotal to the implementation of Agenda 2063.

In conclusion, the Chairperson assured the newly appointed Ambassador of the Commission's readiness to collaborate with the him during his tenure for the mutual attainment of continent's objectives.
