The African Union Commission (AUC) successfully hosted the Regional Consultation on the Africa Common Position for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) on June 2, 2025, in Geneva, Switzerland. Organised on the sideline of the Global Platform2025 (GP2025) for DRR, the event brought together high-level delegations from African Union Member States, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), and key development partners in a collaborative effort to refine and strengthen Africa's stance ahead of the Global Platform for DRR high level segment during the week.

Her Excellency Nataša Pirc Musar, President of the Republic of Slovenia, today paid a courtesy visit to the the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She was received by Her Excellency Ambassador Selma Malika Haddadi, Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC).

The Deputy Chairperson warmly welcomed President Pirc Musar. Their discussions focused on strengthening Africa-Europe cooperation, United Nations Security Council (UNSC) reforms, and shared priorities in new technologies, Artificial Intellegence (AI), and security governance.

The African Union Commission has taken note of the recent proclamation by the Government of the United States imposing new travel restrictions affecting nationals from several countries, including some on the African continent.

While recognising the sovereign right of all nations to protect their borders and ensure the security of their citizens, the African Union Commission respectfully appeals to the United States to exercise this right in a manner that is balanced, evidence-based, and reflective of the long-standing partnership between the United States and Africa.

The Conference of State Parties (CoSP) of the African Medicines Agency (AMA) today announced the appointment of Dr. Delese Mimi Darko from the Republic of Ghana as the inaugural Director General of the African Medicines Agency. The  nomination took place during the 2nd Ordinary Session of the CoSP, held from 2-4 June 2025 in Kigali, Rwanda.
