H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

27-31st March 2017 – Cairo, Egypt – The Economic, Social & Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) of the African Union (AU) has elected Mr. Richard Seewakiryanga from the Uganda National NGO Forum as its new Presiding Officer. The election took place on Thursday 30 March 2017, during the 2nd Ordinary Session of the 2nd Permanent General Assembly held in Cairo, Egypt.
April 7, 2017, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia --- An initial exchange of information focusing on tourism was conducted between CIDO’s leadership and Skal International at the headquarters of the AU on Friday, April 7 2017.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - 13 April 2017: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC) H.E. Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, will address the United Nations- African Union (UN-AU) Annual Conference on 19 April 2017, in New York, United States of America.
The annual conference between the UN and AU members will focus on strategies of strengthening UN-AU partnership in the areas of promoting complementarity between Agenda 2030 and Agenda 2063; peace and security; and economic cooperation.
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 12 April 2017: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, met with Dr. Fang Liu, Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) today in his office at the African Union (AU) Headquarters.
Dr. Liu congratulated H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat for his recent election as the Chairperson of the African Union Commission and used the opportunity of her visit to discuss the progress made in the implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between AU and ICAO.

What: The Second Meeting of the Specialized Technical Committee on Social Development, Labor and Employment (STC-SDLE-2) will convene from 24-28 April 2017 in Algiers, Algeria under the theme: “Investment in Employment and Social Security for Harnessing the Demographic Dividend”.
African Union Commission (AUC) through the Africa Internet Exchange System Project organized a workshop to validate the draft baseline report on SADC Regional Interconnection policy and regulatory framework. The workshop is organized in collaboration with SADC and CRASA and facilitated by Nathan Associates who contracted from AUC to develop SADC Regional Interconnection policy framework. Representatives from Member States of SADC are participated in the workshop.
African Union Commission (AUC) through the Africa Internet Exchange System Project organized a workshop in Nairobi, Kenya to validate the draft baseline report on EAC Regional Interconnection regulations. The workshop is organized in collaboration with EAC and facilitated by Nathan Associates who contracted from AUC to develop EAC cross-border Interconnections Regulations. Representatives from Member States of EAC are participated in the workshop.
