Addis Ababa, 06 March 2020: The Chairperson of the Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, concluded a two-day working visit to Khartoum today.

H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

While the idea of human security has been spreading globally and locally, albeit unevenly, few studies have analytically examined and responded to contextual threats for people-centred, comprehensive, context-specific and prevention-oriented analysis and exploring basic security questions.
A regional consultation workshop capturing the project selection process for the second phase of the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa, also known as PIDA PAP2 (2021-2030), was held for Southern African Member States and their Specialised Institutions.
In recognition of their outstanding achievements and discoveries in science, technology and innovation, the African Union awarded six (6) top scientists the prestigious African Union Kwame Nkrumah Awards for Scientific Excellence (AUKNASE).

The Chairperson of the Commission appeals to all stakeholders to exercise calm and utmost restraint, and encourages the two countries to resolve their differences through dialogue.
The African Union, in collaboration with Regional Economic Communities, will continue to closely monitor the situation.

Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, 03 March 2020: The African Energy Commission (AFREC) in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AFDB) and the Africa – EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) organised an inception workshop to improve and modernise the African Energy Information System (AEIS). The three day workshop takes place from 3-5 March 2020. The AEIS is the first ever continental energy database for Africa built and housed by the African Energy Commission (AFREC) since 2012.
