Stockholm, Sweden – 20 February 2020: H.E. Dr Amani Abou-Zeid, African Union Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy joined the world Ministers in charge of road safety attending the 3rd Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety that took place from 18 to 20 February in Stockholm, Sweden under the theme “Achieving Global Goals 2030”.

African Union Calls for Closer Cooperation with the United Nations System to Achieve Agenda 2063 and the 2030 Agenda
Victoria Falls – Zimbabwe HE Mr Quartey, the Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC) has called for deeper collaboration between the United nations and the African Union, from policy formulation stage to implementation, and for the two organizations to work in tandem towards concrete, measured and immediate actions for the realization of Agenda 2063 and Agenda 2030, especially as 2020 to 2030 has been declared by the UN as a Decade of Action. ‘’The fiery urgency is now and time and tide waits for no one’ he added.

African Union Mobilizes Continent-Wide Response to COVID-19 Outbreak
ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA, 24 FEBRUARY 2020. The Chairperson, African Union Commission, H.E. Mr Moussa Faki Mahamat, said that the Commission will strengthen partnerships and coordination across Africa to respond to the 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak.
The AU-EU-UN taskforce renews its commitment to rescue stranded migrants and refugees in Libya
Addis Ababa, 24 February 2020: The taskforce met on 20 February 2020 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Convened as a follow up to the September 2019, New York meeting that was held at the margins of the high-level General Debate of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, the meeting noted with concern the deplorable and deteriorating humanitarian and security situation in Libya.
