It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.

H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 30th June 2017: The 31st Ordinary Session of the African Union’s (AU) Executive Council, under the theme “Harnessing the Demographic Dividend through Investments in the Youth” was officially opened today 30th June, 2017 at the African Union Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, ahead of the 29th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of AU Heads of States and Government, scheduled to commence on the 3rd of July 2017.

The 29th AU Summit kicks off with the 34th Session of the Permanent Representative Committee
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 27 June 2017: Under the theme of “Harnessing the Demographic Dividend through Investments in the Youth”, the 29th African Union Summit opened Tuesday 27 June 2017, at the African Union Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with the Thirty Fourth (34th) Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives’ Committee (PRC).

New York, 2 June 2017 -UN Women, the African Union Commission, and the Permanent Mission of Germany today launched the African Women Leaders Network, a ground-breaking initiative that seeks to enhance the leadership of women in the transformation of Africa with a focus on governance, peace and stability. The Network was launched following the three-day High-Level Women Leaders Forum for Africa’s Transformation, which took place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 31 May to 2 June.

Kigali, Rwanda 21st June 2017: The commemoration of the Continental Africa Public Service Day kicks off today 21 June 2017 in Kigali, Republic of Rwanda. This event will be celebrated till 23 June 2017, at Kigali Convention Center (KCC). The commemoration of the APSD takes place at national and continental levels. The continental celebration is a biennial event while the AU Member States are mandated to celebrate the National Day, every year.
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – 23 June 2017: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E Moussa Faki Mahamat, wishes to extend sincere condolences to the Masire family, the Government and the people of the Republic of Botswana on the passing of Dr. Quett Ketumile Joni Masire on 22 June 2017. The late President Masire was born on 23 July 1925 and was the second President of Botswana from 1980 to 1998.
