The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, expresses his deep sadness and strongly condemns the attack that took place on the night of 5 October 2025 against a police station in Ségbana, in northern Benin, which tragically claimed the lives of several members of the Beninese security forces.

The Chairperson of the Commission extends his sincere condolences to the Government and people of Benin, as well as to the families of the victims, and conveys his full solidarity with the national authorities during this particularly difficult time.

The Chairperson of the AU Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, had an audience this afternoon with H.E. President William Samoei Ruto on the sidelines of the COMESA Summit in Nairobi.

The Chairperson briefed President Ruto on progress in implementing the ongoing AU institutional reforms and commended his steadfast leadership as Champion of the reform agenda.

President Ruto, in turn, applauded the Chairperson’s commitment and achievements in strengthening the organisation.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, attended a State Banquet at @StateHouseKenya hosted by H.E. President @WilliamRuto , marking the 30th Anniversary of COMESA.

The dinner was also graced by H.E. Presidents Azali Assoumani of Comoros, Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe, Prime Ministers Russell Dlamini of Eswatini, & Mustafa Madbouly of Egypt, as well as COMESA Secretary-General, H.E. Chileshe Mpundu Kapwepwe, & members of the diplomatic community

The Urban Resilience Knowledge Series Report, commissioned by the African Union Commission (AUC), has reiterated the need to put resilience in cities at the centre of development.

The reflection was shared on 8 September 2025, at an event themed “Accelerating climate resilience for urban development: key reflections from the AU Urban Resilience knowledge Series Report”, held on the margins of the 2nd Africa Climate Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
