H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

Abuja, Nigeria – 15 December 2015: The Chairperson of the AU Commission, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, is in Abuja, Nigeria, to attend the 40th anniversary celebrations of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), as well as the 48th Ordinary Session of ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.
The AU Commission Chairperson will have an opportunity to address both gatherings i.e. the 48th Ordinary session on 16 December as well as the 40th Anniversary celebrations on 17 December, both of which have attracted a number of continental and world leaders.

Addis Ababa, 15 December 2015: A 3-day Training of Trainers (ToT) in French has begun today in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for 10 elections experts for African Union Election Observation Missions (AUEOM). The ToT has the objective to train a pool of expert trainers to support the training of African Union election observers for long and short term observers as part of the effort to improve African Union Election Observation Mission methodology. The training is a second batch of training for expert trainers The first training took place in English took place in July 2015.
Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago – 5 December 2015: The Citizens and Diaspora Directorate (CIDO) of the African Union Commission has completed high level discussions with representatives of the Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM) and the Caribbean Pan African Network (CPAN) on critical areas to strengthen the relationship between the African Union and the African Diaspora community in the Caribbean.
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 14th December 2015: The workshop on the capacity building on education and gender opened today Monday 14th December 2015 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The three-day workshop, which brings together education experts from African Union Member States, aims at identifying effective strategies that will pave the way for a gender-sensitive educational system on the Continent.
Maseru, 7 December 2015: A 5-day Building Resources for Democracy, Governance and Elections (BRIDGE) Training has begun today in Maseru, the Kingdom of Lesotho, for the staff of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC). The training on “Civic Education and Voter Information” has the objective to help the staff of IEC to better carry out its constitutional mandate relating to civic education and voter information and enhance political participation. Participants for the training are drawn from senior management and implementers of Civic Education and Voter Information within the IEC.
Nairobi, Kenya, 12 December 2015 – The African Consultations on Migration kicked-off today. The Consultations was officially opened by Dr. Olawale I. MAIYEGUN, the Director of Social Affairs Department; Mr. David CLAPP, the Coordinator of Sub-Regional Platform for East and Southern Africa, UNDP on behalf of the UNDG; and the Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, H.E. The theme of the Training Workshop was: “Fostering the adoption and utilization of improved Agro-Processing Technologies for Women-led or owned SMEs: Policy Perspectives and Managerial Prerequisites”.
