The African Union (AU) Humanitarian Symposium was initiated in 2010, as a forum that brings together the AU Commission, Member States and Partners to deliberate and exchange views on pertinent issues impacting on the humanitarian situation in the continent.

This year, the 9th Humanitarian Symposium is dedicated to the preparations for the 2022 Continental Humanitarian Summit to be convened in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

Addis Ababa, 21 November 2021: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, has learned with satisfaction of the signing of the agreement reached between the President of the Sudanese Supreme Council, Abdel Fatah Al Burhan, and Prime Minister, Abdalla Hamdock, today, 21 November 2021.

The Chairperson commends this important step towards the return to constitutional order as enshrined in the Khartoum agreements of August 19, 2019, which frame the consensual and democratic transition in Sudan.
