The African Union (AU) Commission expresses its deep concern over the renewed escalation of hostilities between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, despite ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and advancing a peaceful resolution.

The Commission believes that these developments risk further destabilising an already fragile situation and threaten international peace and security.

Mahmoud Ali Youssouf this afternoon chaired the Coordination Committee Meeting comprising the Chief Executives of the regional Economy Communities (RECs), Regional Mechanisms (RMs) & @NEPAD_Agency & @AfCFTA , in preparation for the 8th AU Mid-Year Review in El-Alamein, Egypt.

The RECs, RMs & AUDA-NEPAD & AFCFTA expressed appreciation to the Chairperson for sustained engagement, coordination & leadership in advancing continental priorities.

The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, this evening received H.E. Gedion Timothewos, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

They discussed the ongoing AU institutional reforms, with particular emphasis on sustainable financing of the Union.
The Chairperson expressed his gratitude to H.E. William Ruto for his leadership as AU Reform Champion and briefed the Minister on progress achieved to date under his stewardship.

The Expo will serve as a continental policy dialogue, exhibition and campaign platform to advance a digital future for education and skills development across Africa.
