Twenty-nine (29) participants drawn from the African Union Commission, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), , Business Africa, International Organization for Migration (IOM), International Labour Organization (ILO), Diaspora African Forum and Organization of African Trade Union Unity. The meeting was convened with the understanding that different RECs are at different levels of progress in labour migration governance, hence the need to facilitate experience sharing and capacity building.

Moussa Faki Mahamat, welcomes the declaration on Monday 28 June 2021 of a “humanitarian ceasefire” in the Tigray region by the Federal Government of Ethiopia as a right step towards the resolution of the conflict. The Chairperson calls on the Ethiopian authorities to work towards a comprehensive and all-encompassing permanent ceasefire to pave the way for sustainable peace in Tigray.

The People's Democratic Republic of Algeria becomes the ninth (9th) Member State to deposit the instrument of ratification of the African Medicines Agency (AMA). The Republic of Algeria ratified the Treaty for the establishment of AMA on 10 June 2021 and deposited the instrument of accession, to the Commission of the African Union (AU) on 22 June 2021 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. H.E. Amira Elfadil Mohamed, Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, at the African Union Commission, received the instrument from H.E.

Within the framework of the AU-EU Continent-to-Continent Migration and Mobility Dialogue, the African Union Commission and European Union Commission, in partnership with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) conducted a study on Return, Readmission and Reintegration programs in Africa. The study includes nine country briefs of selected African Union Members States, which were devel¬oped in close cooperation with respectively nominated focal points, and benefitted from country-level and regional workshops held with key stakeholders.
