The African Union Commission and the State of Qatar signed an MoU for monetary grant of 20 million dollars for the reintegration of African migrants
Doha, Qatar , 13th January 2019: The State of Qatar and the African Union Commission (AUC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding for a monetary grant of $20 million that represents the State of Qatar's support towards the reintegration of vulnerable African migrants.
The State of Qatar and the AUC established this grant to support the safe reintegration of repatriated migrants in their countries of origin.

Statement of the Chairperson of the Commission on the attack on the MINUSMA Camp in Mali
Addis Abeba, 22 January 2019: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat condemns in the strongest terms the attack in Mali that killed 10 Chadian peacekeepers, who were members of the United Nations Mission Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) on 20 January 2019.
The Chairperson extends his deepest condolences to the Government of Chad and the families of the deceased. He wishes a swift recovery to the injured, and extends his gratitude, on behalf of the African continent, for their courage.
Communiqué on the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Addis Ababa, 20 January 2019: The African Union Commission takes note of the decision of the Constitutional Court of the Democratic Repubic of the Congo proclaiming the final results of the presidential and national and provincial and legislative elections of 30 December 2018.
The Commission calls on all concerned to work for the preservation of peace and stability and the promotion of national harmony in their country.

Commemorative Statue of Emperor Haile Selassie set to be unveiled at the AU Headquarters
22nd January 2019, African Union Headquarters: The Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Amb. Kwesi Quartey, received Princess Mariam Sena Asfaw Wossen, granddaughter of Emperor Haile Selassie I. The discussions centred on Ethiopia-African Union relations, in particular, the upcoming installation of Emperor Haile Selassie’s statue at the African Union Headquarters. The statue will be unveiled during the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government on the 10th February 2019.
