Kigali, Rwanda, 20 March 2018: Prof. Sarah Anyang Agbor, Commissioner for Human Resources, Science and Technology of the African Union, on 19 March 2018, delivered a key note address at the Gender Summit holding with the framework of the Tenth Extraordinary Summit of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA in Kigali, Republic of Rwanda).

The two day event which took place in the Marriott Hotel, Kigali brought together participants and delegates from the AU Member states to exchange views on the theme: “Climate Change through the Gender Lens: Focus on Africa”.

Addis Ababa, 20 March 2018: The Head of the African Union Election Observation Mission to Sierra Leone, H.E. Kgalema Motlanthe recalls the interim statement that AUEOM issued immediately after the General Election of 7 March 2018. In that statement the AUEOM congratulated all political stakeholders and the people of Sierra Leone for the peaceful, transparent and credible manner in which the elections were held. In the same statement, AUEOM implored Sierra Leone stakeholders to uphold peace and avoid violence as the country gears itself up for the run-off presidential election.

The Extraordinary Summit on the African Continental Free TRADE AfCFTA held from 17 – 21 March 2018 in Kigali , Rwanda, will serve as a platform for the African Union to sign into existence another flagship project that will boost intra-Africa trade: The Treaty Establishing the African Economic Community relating to Free Movement of Persons, Rights of Residence and Right of Establishment.

Kigali, Rwanda, 19 March 2018: H.E Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC) underscored the need for Africa to speak with one voice as African Union member states embark on implementing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Kigali Rwanda, 17th March 2018: The Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) meeting in preparation for the 18th Extraordinary Session of the Executive Council and the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) kicked off on 17 March 2018 at the Kigali Convention Center (KCC), Republic of Rwanda.
