29 October, 2017: Banjul, The Gambia: The African Union and United Nations Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) concluded a two-day consultative meeting on Human Rights in Conflict Situations in Africa. The participants were drawn from the AUC Departments for Political Affairs; Social Affairs and the Department of Peace and Security. Also in attendance were the representatives of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights; African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC); and AU Human Rights Observers.

31st October, 2017: Banjul, The Gambia: The 13th African Union (AU) - European Union (EU) Human Rights Dialogue was held on 31 October 2017, in Banjul, The Gambia. H.E. Mrs. Minata Samate Cessouma, Commissioner for Political Affairs of the African Union Commission and H.E. Mr Stavros Lambrinidis, the EU Special Representative for Human Rights led their respective Delegations to the meeting.

The African Union will tomorrow, 14th November 2017 launch the Gender and Development Initiative for Africa (GADIA). Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission H.E Kwesi Quartey will join the President of the Republic of Ghana H.E Nana Akufo-Addo, who is also the Chairperson of the African Union’s Committee on Gender and Development, in the launch of the Initiative under the theme “Africa women as leaders in business and politics”. The launch will take place in Accra, Ghana.
