Energy Efficiency Takes Center Stage at Africa Climate Summit 2023
At the Africa Climate Summit 2023 held in Nairobi from September 4-6, energy efficiency was highlighted as a cost-effective solution to expand energy access across the continent. During a high-level event on energy efficiency, African Union Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy H.E. Dr Amani Abou-zeid highlighted that energy efficiency is the cleanest form of energy available.

DR. ABOU-ZEID: Africa Must Lead the Charge in Driving Climate Action Worldwide
The Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy of the African Union Commission delivered strong remarks highlighting Africa's leadership in global climate action at the High Level Dialogue on the 1. °C Energy Transition held ahead of COP28. Organised by the COP28 Presidency (United Arab Emirates) and the International Energy Commission (IEA), the dialogue was held on 6th September 2023, on the side line of the Africa Climate Summit. The event brought together senior government officials and energy leaders to discuss accelerating clean energy deployment.
Leveraging Arts for Peace – Training on Silencing the Guns
As a follow-up to the December 2021 Seminar for African Artists on Silencing the Guns, the African Union (AU) Commission in collaboration with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), convened a five-day virtual training for another cohort of artists from 18 to 22 September 2023, under the theme: 'Leveraging Arts for Peace'.
