For grains alone, the value of postharvest losses is estimated to equate to approximately USD 4 billion/year (at 2007 prices), which could meet the annual food requirements of about 48 million people.

Addis Ababa, 17 September 2019 - The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, takes note of the provisional results of the Presidential election held on 15 September 2019 in Tunisia, as announced by the Independent Higher Authority of Elections (ISIE).

The Chairperson of the Commission congratulates the Tunisian authorities on the efforts made for the success of the first round of the Presidential election and also commends the maturity of the Tunisian people, who, once again, have demonstrated their deep commitment to peace, stability and democracy.

Accra, Ghana, 27-28 August 2019: The Department of Political Affairs of the African Union Commission (AUC) in close collaboration with the Africa Transitional Justice Legacy Fund (ATJLF) have completed the first regional consultative and capacity building workshop on the implementation the African Union Transitional Justice Policy (AUTJP) in Accra, Ghana. The meeting, which took place on 27-28 August 2019 is to popularize the policy and promote its effective implementation in West Africa.
