Adopted by African Union Heads of State and Government on 30 October 2025 in Luanda, Angola, the Luanda Declaration represents a renewed continental commitment to transforming Africa’s infrastructure landscape as a foundation for trade, industrialization, and integration under Agenda 2063.

1. The African Union Commission (AUC) warmly expresses its support for the Republic of South Africa as G20 Chair and welcomes the country for hosting the G20 Summit in Africa for the first time. This milestone reflects South Africa’s growing role in global governance.

2. As the current Chair of the G20, South Africa has shown exceptional leadership in promoting the priorities of the Global South, advancing sustainable development, and strengthening inclusive global governance.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, met this afternoon with the Director-General of the @wto, H.E. @NOIweala, on the sidelines of the #COP30 Leaders Summit in Belém, Brazil.

Their discussions focused on strengthening Africa’s integration into the global trading system, advancing trade-related infrastructure & addressing barriers to deeper economic integration, including limited infrastructure, high trade costs, & the need for greater diversification to add value to African exports.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, met with H.E. @alexstubb, President of #Finland, on the margins of the Leaders’ Summit at #COP30 in Belém, Brazil.
Their discussions focused on the peace & security situation, the continent’s development trajectory, & preparations for the upcoming AU–EU Summit in Angola & the 2026 AU Summit.
