Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E. Mr. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, was appointed to lead the AU institutional reforms process. He appointed a pan-African committee of experts to review and submit proposals for a system of governance for the AU that would ensure the organisation was better placed to address the challenges facing the continent with the aim of implementing programmes that have the highest impact on Africa’s growth and development so as to deliver on the vision of Agenda 2063.

Deputy Chairperson meets San Marino delegation to discuss on areas of cooperation
Addis Ababa, 13 September 2013– The Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E Erastus Mwencha met with the delegations of the Republic of San Marino, led by their Excellencies Captains Regent, Ms Antonella Mularoni and Mr. Denis Amici, on 13 September 2013, in his office at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Welcoming the initiative taken by the Government of San Marino to explore avenues of cooperation with the African continent, Mr. Mwencha highlighted the key areas that the African Union is promoting the continent in the world; such as integration; development; and peace and security. In particular, he emphasized Africa’s fast growth in the past 10 years and stressed the continent’s strong position in the concert of nations thanks, to the actions of the African Union.
H.E Ms. Antonella Mularoni expressed satisfaction at being in Africa and for being received at the African Union. Amongst other issues, the two parties discussed on possible areas of collaboration between the African Union and the government of San Marino particularly, on development of infrastructure and science and technology.
Mr. Corrado Carattoni, and Mr. Marco Arzilli, respectively Plenipotentiary Minister, Responsible for Communication at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Industry, Handicraft and Trade, stressed that the African Union is a window of opportunity for the government of San Marino to better collaborate with African countries on different areas of interest.
