The African Union (AU) Humanitarian Symposium was initiated in 2010, as a forum that brings together the AU Commission, Member States and Partners to deliberate and exchange views on pertinent issues impacting on the humanitarian situation in the continent.

This year, the 9^th Humanitarian Symposium is dedicated to the preparations for the 2022 Continental Humanitarian Summit to be convened in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

Governments need to implement multi hazard governance and coordination pathways towards reducing disaster risk. This was the prominent key message coming out from the 8^th Africa Regional Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction (AfRP). The virtual event took place 16-18^th November 2021at the senior officials level. The

Platform was followed by the 7^th High Level/Ministerial Session that took place on 19^th November in Nairobi, Kenya.
