Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 03 May 2018: The AU-EU-UN Task Force on the Stranded Migrants’ Situation in Libya held its Ninth meeting of the Task Force on 26 April 2018 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The meeting was chaired by H.E. Madam Amira Elfadil, Special Envoy of the Chairperson of the AU Commission and Commissioner for Social Affairs and attended by the Head of EU Delegation to the AU and the director from the IOM, as well as representation from several AU Departments.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, May 3, 2018: A High level meeting of the African Union and the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) kicked off today at the African Union Headquarters. The meeting bringing together senior officials and technocrats in the region, will deliberate on the management of public sector resources and need for better financial reporting by governments, particularly with the increasing need for effective corporate governance and efficient Public Financial Management (PFM).

Background

The financial and sovereign debt crises emphasized the need for better financial reporting by governments worldwide, and the need for improvements in the management of public sector resources. The continuing aftermath of these crises has reinforced these needs and has increased the pressure on governments and public sector organizations to better manage public resources.
