H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

Addis Ababa, 4 March 2018 – The African Union Commission (AUC) would like to announce to all Member States the historic submission of the First Written Statement of the African Union to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the advisory Opinion on the legal consequences of the separation of Chagos Archipelago from Mauritius in 1965.
Nouakchott, Mauritania, 21 March 2018: “The African Union Commission urges all stakeholders in the Energy Sector to harmonise and coordinate all their financial and human resources to achieve the common goal of ensuring energy access and security on the continent”. These were the views of the Director of Infrastructure and Energy at the African Union Commission, Mr.
Addis Ababa, 22 March: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, wishes to commend the President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, Chairperson of the African Union, for his country’s contribution of one million US dollars in support of the operationalisation of the G5 Sahel joint force. He stresses that this contribution is a strong expression of solidarity with the G5 Sahel countries in their fight against terrorism and organized crime. Rwanda also pledged to provide in-kind support.
