Addis Ababa, 1 December 2018: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, takes note of the postponement of the East African Community Summit, which was scheduled in Arusha, Tanzania, on 30 November 2018. This Summit, for which he had travelled to Arusha, was to provide an opportunity for the Facilitator of the Inter-Burundian Dialogue to submit a report on his efforts.

In the just concluded Extraordinary summit on institutional reforms in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the Assembly of Heads of State and Government adopted stringent measures for member states who do not meet their financial obligations in time.

The event is being hosted in conjunction with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and other key stakeholders including a consortium of Development Cooperating Partners (DCPs).

Partnership for Digital Identity Launched

Addis Ababa, 18 November 2018: The African Union Commission and the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) organized today a High Level breakfast meeting on Digital Identity on the margins of the 11th Extraordinary Assembly of the African Union (AU).

The overall objective of the meeting was to spearhead the advocacy for a continental framework on Digital ID and provide technical inputs to the discourse on Digital ID on the continent, define and shape standards for Digital ID in Africa.
