The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, extends his warmest congratulations to the Government and people of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea on the occasion of their Independence Day.

This historic day is a moment of pride and reflection, celebrating Equatorial Guinea’s enduring journey toward freedom, unity, and nation-building. The African Union salutes the resilience, determination, and achievements of the people of Equatorial Guinea, and reaffirms its solidarity with their aspirations for peace, stability, and inclusive development.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, is following with deep concern the recent political and security developments in the Republic of Madagascar, marked by movements within the army and popular demonstrations in Antananarivo.

The African Union Commission (AUC), through the Medical and Health Services Directorate, commemorated the 2025 Africa Healthy Lifestyle Day today, 10th October 2025, at the African Union Commission Headquarters in Addis Ababa. The event was held under the theme “Mental Health in the Family” with the slogan “Healthy Home, Healthy Workplace.” The activities were highly attended by AU staff, African Member States staff, and representatives.

The African Union Commission’s Women, Gender and Youth Directorate (AUC-WGYD) successfully concluded its inaugural Annual Gender and Youth Mainstreaming Focal Persons (GYFP) Meeting, held from 7-8 October 2025 at the AUC Headquarters in Addis Ababa.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, expresses his deep sadness and strongly condemns the attack that took place on the night of 5 October 2025 against a police station in Ségbana, in northern Benin, which tragically claimed the lives of several members of the Beninese security forces.

The Chairperson of the Commission extends his sincere condolences to the Government and people of Benin, as well as to the families of the victims, and conveys his full solidarity with the national authorities during this particularly difficult time.
